Well I reused all of my ends... So only the wire is new. FWIW there was some oxidation on the coil wire distributor end... I used some deoxit and a little mechanical cleaning... but they were like that before, obviously, so I doubt they are the problem...

You know, the more I think about this...if it does in fact sound like a coil wire issue...I had a terrible time getting the distributor end of one of the coil wires threaded onto the connector. No idea why...one coil wire end, and one of the other wires gave me hassles. The coil wire took me almost 30 minutes of messing with it just to screw it on the end, whereas most every other one went right on. Maybe I didn't really get it on right, and initially it made good enough contact but popped apart and now is not right. I'll check that tonight...with my mechanic's skills, every job is like two steps forward, one step back...

Just to button this up, since I hate finding a thread that seems relevant and there's no resolution...injectors. 99% sure. Replacing the coil wire didn't fix anything, and in fact the car seemed to be running rough in general (I started a new thread, thinking it was something different). On a whim, and because people in general seemed to like it, I tried a bottle of Liqui-Moly injector cleaner. HUGE difference. Rough running and shudder both mostly gone, initially. I've seen some of it creep back, especially before the engine is warmed up, and I suspect the injector cleaner dissolved some gunk but there is more floating around in there. I will try another bottle or two, but if the problems aren't gone, I'll spring for new injectors. I probably need to do that anyway...

Jeff,
Been watching this to see if you've resolved...
My gts had been doing the same exact thing...
2k-3k rpms ALWAYS!

A little back story.. A while back I had Sean advance the cams to give a little more power On the top end. It did, no doubt, but I've had that same "bucking" issue that you've had. It's slight, but I can feel it.
Constant acceleration I can feel it..

Been doing research on line and this seems to be a "common" or potentially common issue when changing cams or if cams/cam is restarted/advanced at certain rpms...

We've done everything on my car from the cam covers up, fuel pumps and everything all the way to the engine. In other words there is not any part that fuel or air goes through that we havent replaced on the Charlie Car. This leaves cam timing the only thing that is not "factory spec"....
So
I'm heading to Sean's in the next couple weeks and have him dial in my cams to spec w Porken's cam tool...
If this works I'll be a happy camper and I'll move on to Gt cams. 24lb injectors and shark tune.
IF NOT
It might be the next GTS for sale here in the last month or so as I'm getting a TASTE for that dodge hellcat 6 speed!!

Have someone dial those cams in, see if it helps...
If you already have, then I'm just way off base...

Good luck w this issue regardless!!

Since my shudder and other probably-related roughness got better post injector cleaner but didn't stay gone, and sort of comes and goes, I just ordered a set of replacement injectors. I am hopeful that this fixes the issue, but if not, sounds like what you're doing might be something to look into as well.

Just to hopefully but a bow on this thread (and a few others): The car runs like a beast now, after the new injectors. The shudder is completely gone, although to be fair it came and went, and I've only taken three drives since I did the work. Nevertheless, the difference was so apparent I feel pretty confident.

Yeah, nothing worse than finding a thread where someone had the exact same problem you're chasing, and there's no conclusion!

Sending a sincere thank-you for the follow-up (and successful conclusion) to this issue. My '82 does this but only on the slight uphill from work that I tackle with a less-than-warmed-up car. New injectors or sending out the old ones will not break the bank.

All the best.
