So is there a list of preferred vendors to use? Anyone to avoid?

The "Big 4" listed in the "New Visitor" sticky.

928sR'US, 928 International, 928 Specialists and 928 Motorsports.

All are site sponsors. All have people on here on a regular basis.
All have solid reputations.

You will pay more for stuff from them, no doubt about it that you can find better "deals" online somewhere.
But the ones listed above have made sure the stuff is legit (not cheap counterfeits), have reasonable return policies, have put considerable time and money into sourcing the parts we need and have encyclopedic knowledge about these cars.

You can call Mark (928 Int'l) or Roger (928sR'Us) and say "I need the thingy that goes on the doohickey" and not only will they know what you need and what the part number is, they will also know what else you do (or don't) need to complete the project. They even have "kits" that include everything you will need to do (for example) a timing belt/waterpump.

They're also really nice guys. Even if Roger talks a little funny.

I saw it in the newbie thread but it was dated and I didn't know how frequently things are updated.

Thanks, making parts lists now... looks like my bonus will be spent on 928 parts

While waiting for our house to be finished and staying with friends.... I've done some "retail therapy" because of the 928 wheel thread. Thanks guys... wife isn't too happy :P

anyways, I was trying to sell a set of speedlines for a friend and fell in love with them.... and I bought them.... then I saw these Kinesis K58s local and I had to buy them (since my Audi TT is on k18s and my 996 is on K28s)... So now I have two sets of wheels to go on the 928... I am thinking that 18" may be too big... what are your thoughts?

Those are some nice looking sets of wheels.
The 18" diameter will be absolutely no problem.
The key is the offsets, the widths, and the tire sizes.
Do you know what the offsets are for these wheels?

You've been prompted re who you gunna call

I don't know if it says in the visitor thread. Some have on-line catalog and even ordering. Great for research and fun. Can be exercise in futility. CALL them. Leave a message. If they don't call back, call again. Repeat til you talk to a human. They are great, they know stuff about the 928 parts the ebay sellers do not.

once the speedlines show up I will start configuring what will be needed to fit on the 928. right now I am just happy to be in my house (even though its not complete). now I need to finish the shop area and order my lift, then its power steering leak fix, suspension refresh, motor mounts, TB WP and fuel lines.

I however took the bra off and was surprised that the front wasn't in too bad of shape!

we are still moving in as you can see!

tomorrow my driveway gets poured

Looks like a good candidate for a 3M clear bra treatment to the entire front
