Hi,
I've finally become a 928 owner, specifically a green '89 S4 auto, hence my handle. I'm really looking forward to joining the community and hope to get some help and pointers.
Despite my car having had a lot of money spent on it in the past 25 years, it is currently pretty rough and is with an indy having the worst of the electrics and an overheating problem sorted. Once the car is drivable I'm planning to do most of the work myself.
I'm sure you've heard similar requests countless times from new members, however, I'd really appreciate your help initially with direction to a workshop manual download (a lot of the new member page links are dead) and perhaps a schedule of recommended preventative maintenance.
Many thanks in advance
Alex

Welcome, Alex. Post some pics of your car - inside and out.
Within the New Visitor FAQ topic located at the top of this forum is a live link to an on-line WSM.
Read through that entire thread to get a good running start.

Welcome.
For the WSM (WorkShop Manual), there's a link in post #41 of the "New Visitor" sticky. They aren't perfect, but they aren't bad.
Post #45 has a link to Porsche and the PET factory catolog(ue). It's a very handy thing to have because it includes exploded view drawings of every system (all the parts) in the car.
There is a very nice compilation of the WSM, tech info, service bulletins and a whole lot of other stuff, all on CD-ROM. 5 CD set. It's known as the "Moorehouse CD" and is available from Roger at 928sR'Us.
If you do your own work, you will get to know him (and the other vendors) fairly well.

The WSM is essential, getting the cheapest one an expensive choice. Get the good manuals from Roger and have a local place with a large format printer print the wiring diagrams for your model year large enough to easily read.

I have a question about the Morehouse CD version...how easy is it to separate out your model year? I've been using a WSM I found online that has some nice hyperlinks in the TOC but it's still difficult to find the proper pages for my year. If the Morehouse version allows one to filter out non-applicable model years, that right there would be worth the price of admission.
