BHR in KC
A few people asked me to post my experience with BHR in KC for an alignment, so here goes:
- Overall very positive on this shop. Nice guys, easy to work with, knowledgeable and experienced on P-cars and VWs, though the 928 was a little bit of an odd duck for them.
- Alignment is good now, we'll see how it wears.
- They aligned it once, saw the tie rods were shot (one bent too) and called me with a quote for the tie rods, install, tax (and no charge re-alignment.) Their price was right so they did all that.
- They welded up a cracked exhaust bung while they had it, no charge! So nice to not have that pestery exhaust leak.
- After getting it back I noticed a slight pull to the left (very minor) took it back and they adjusted the bearings (noted that they were in need of repack/replacement when I first picked it up) checked tire inflation and made one minor tweak to a tie rod. After a half hour it was tracking straight.
So: Very happy with BHR service, prices are reasonable (still expensive, but not exorbitant) and the guys seem knowledgeable and are easy to work with.
I don't have a lot of stuff I won't tackle myself on the 928. But if I were going to farm out work, I'd farm it out to them first.
That said, it wouldn't be bad to know of another alignment shop (instead of the generalist/race shop that BHR is) in KC that was 928 savvy.
