Before trying, I wondered if anyody has ever removed the footrest from the drivers side from a car with the steering on the left side. What is behind it? I want to checkit for rust
The central warning computer is located behind the foot rest. For later cars with ABS, that unit is mounted above the foot rest. To remove the foot rest, remove the thumb nut, the pull the foot rest upwards, then towards the rear of the car. Need to disconnect the central warning computer harness connectors before it can be removed from the car.

I think the central warning box is in the right footwell if I recall correctly

Nope
It is mounted inside the driver's foot rest, at least on every '80 through '87 928 I have seen. The ECUs (LH and EZK/EZF computer is located in the right (passenger) footwell. For a RHD car I do not know. The bulb check unit is in the passenger footwell, attached to the lower parcel tray.
