You need to do a fair bit more research and calculations to determine that.
What are your power goals? How complex or simple are you looking to go?
Are you after low end response or top end power?
What other modifications do you have done to the car?
Is all the maintenance up to date on the car? Do you have a sharktuner? Manual or automatic?

Read the latest Pano for the answer to your question. John Kuhn makes the best turbo for our cars.

Kuhn's Turbo setup is 87+ only.
Mid mounts and rear mounts are still great options, with good response, and power delivery.
But if one is to build their own system, they will need to do a lot of research and reading before hand to figure out what it is that they need to meet their goals.

Hello what i had in mind would be my 86 cams perhaps on my 87 engine dual 2 1/2 exhausts with stock gears with the 83 posi in the 86 5 speed little bigger injectors 24 or 30 thats about it. I would love your triflo cams just don't have the scratch . oh and the turbo you have sounds just about right. Ray

The mid/rear turbo setups run normally a single 3" exhaust. A dual 2.5" will net zero extra gain.
Now putting together a turbo setup is the easy part. Tuning it, and making it reliable is a whole nother game.
As to turbo selection, there is an insane amount of options out there.
The trouble is that you need to know how and what to order in order to be able to get a turbo which is well matched to the car.
Unfortunatly, it is not a simple matter of bolting it on and away you go.
I only turbocharge 928s after I know that all maintenance is up to date and that it is a healthy engine to start with.
Once that is done, then the car needs to come to me.
I don't make any "kits" for the turbo as the engine tuning needed is so specific to each car it is not worth it to imo produce a kit.

I've not done a turbo, but I have quite a bit of experience with superchargers. I'll echo Colin's point about making sure all the mechanicals are up to snuff before any power adders are put in. THis is often overlooked. The car really needs to be in tip-top shape otherwise you will discover all of its weaknesses in a hurry!
If you plan on running the stock computers, I suggest using the 87+ platform. The sharktuner is more refined for these cars. However if you are going to use an aftermarket ecu, then it becomes personal preference and the internals are both pretty robust.
There are many many threads here... but to my knowledge, no one make a turbo kit per se. Kuhn has a nice set up, and while advertised, the cost is 10k+. Someone used to offer a mid-mount turbo, but for autos only, and I don't think it ever officially made it out of the gates. KillaV here on the forum is running a rear turbo. I think it's half kit and half custom. My point is that a turbo route will be expensive or you will have to be able to do a lot of fabrication/tuning on your own.

I agree with AO... I did quite a bit of research before settling on my supercharger. Kuhns makes a turb which seems very nice but is on the pricey side and not available for your car from what I remember reading.
You need to determine what you want out of the car. A supercharger delivers unbelievable power but it may not be what you're looking for.
best of luck

Actually AO,
The mid mount is for manuals only. Read mount is for autos.
Mark R did the midpoint system which is what Pele has on his car.
There are a couple others out there, but I can say that all the kits needed a bunch of reworking to make work properly.
As to the cost of turbo vs SC, the turbo is actually very comparable.
The last system I did (low boost) ran around $7500. That was fabricated, installed and tuned.
Adding an IC, and upping to boost adds a fair bit of money due to install costs, fueling modifications etc.
