Tony's is an '87 automatic, but this ought to work on a 5-speed since the oil cooler lines are identical.

You might get some additional clearance for the alternator bolt if you undo the 2 10mm machine screws on the top of the fan shroud, it'll allow you to wiggle the shroud around while extricating the long (130mm) top alternator bolt :
For the new alternator, make sure the bushing in the mounting ears is pushed all the way back, it'll make your life easier.

Take the fans out if you can. (don't recall if you can take fans out with radiator hoses in place? if so, definitely worth it!) I did my alt with fans & hoses in place and it sucked. Then I did the TB/WP and saw how easy it is to get the fans out, would do that every time from now on. Even if you have to drain/fill coolant it's easier IMO. Don't forget you'll need a couple of big-*** wrenches (1-1/16 and 1-1/4 IIRC) to get the oil line out of the way (top driver side on radiator.) Counter hold it so you don't crack the plastic end tank on the radiator.
Please take that with the grain of salt that I'm lazy and a poor-to-ok shade tree mechanic.

Thanks Bob. Out was no issue. Idid just as directed. Is there any easy way to get the pulley/fan assembly off without buggering it up? I have the 8mm wrench in the drive bolt, but cannot put enough force on the socket to crack it loose. When I try to hold the fan with a screwdriver holding the blades and just turn the 24mm socket I end up bending the blades. Any suggestions?

Nice. Done. Easy out and in Dash pod voltmeter no longer dancing all over the lot as its always done. 13.75 volts back at the positive post under the hood with some load on. It was imperative for me to have this done as the temps here hit 50 degrees. Thank you all.
