Default rewiring all speakers in shark

Today I went to gather info about having a Alpine stereo installed in my shark. Right now there is no unit and just a bunch of cut wires to connect everything.

The installer said he would have to rewire all the speakers because this Porsche don't have ground wires like most cars do on the speakers. The look of bewilderment on his face as he said he isn't sure how to get the door panels apart.

I said "That ain't **** compared to taking apart the rear quarter panels".

Needless to say I got the hell out of there after a $100 dollar quote to rewire 4 speakers. They didn't have a clue as where to start disassembling the interior, no way are they going to screw up my shark.

Did this happen to you guys when getting a new stereo? What did you do? Have it rewired or what?

I rewired the shark myself, in my earlier days I was a mobile installer for one of the Big Box electronic retailers. It seemed I was the one that always got the "nicer" cars to do. If I remember the terminology right, the Porsches use a floating ground speaker system, thus it is kinda like a one wire setup. The factory amp and fader just complicate things even more. It is not a difficult job to rewire, if you need specifics PM me. Good luck.

Hey Red...If you open the compartment where the amp is installed (beside the passenger seat under the rear latch release) you will find the speaker connections to the factory speakers. I rewired my stereo to this point and bypassed the amp...I now works great with the Blau tuner/cd Las Vegas. Goodluck........Bill
