You know, actually the clutch feeling was not bad at all, just worked fine and smooth. No shuddering or vibrating or bad feelings in the pedal. What is the worst that can happen when I just put it together with the old intermediate shaft and those discs while keeping the new intermediate shaft on the shelf for better days?

Probably the clutch will eventually just not release at all, and leading up to that time will overheat, from increasing contact with the flywheel, intermediate, and pressure plate.

The issue will be how far you want to let it go in doing potentially more serious and costly consequential damage to those items, and the gearbox, as time goes on.

It will eventually cost you more in the long run, but it's matter of how long that period is likely to be .... there is no definitive answer ... it's a roll of the dice.

well since your in there,
and you now know how to fix it properly with the latest parts that will only increase in price in time ,
make the investment now and forget about it for another 20 years.

Would you rather replace the clutch now or rebuild a transmission later with worn synchronizers and sliders. Those notches on the intermediate shaft will keep the clutch from disengaging properly.

I always listen to MrMerlin. I think I just found a couple of new Sachs clutch discs for a bargain price! It took me about 1 hour of googling but time well spent!
These worn out discs are perhaps the best thing that happened to my car!

Thanks everybody for all your insights and good value advice!

I think this is my Christmas present!

Merry Christmas everybody

I just ordered one along with a few other parts from him ... you'll need to be quick because they go out the door fast.
