Question OPTIONS for Headlight upgrades, please?

Hello all,

I am hoping to get some practical input on upgrading the 928 headlight system.
Any experiences with different bulbs/reflectors?
Any experiences with LED headlight systems?
THANKS !!!!!

I replaced the original sealed beams on my '86 US 928S with the Hella H4 halogen kit from Amazon. I got the US DOT version, came with the bulb and housing to replace the sealed beam.

Easiest thing I have done yet on this car. Made a noticeable difference on low beam, extreme difference on high beam.

I have H4's (Europe) but I still think they are no match for my Skoda's (= el-cheapo VW) bixenon lights. I was hoping to find some kind of upgrade for the foglights, behaving like low-beams

There was a great thread that I can't find now but the net is the best bang for the buck for OB cars is the plug and play 7 inch H4 that can be had from places like 4 wheel for $35 a light. I did it.

Huge improvement.

I have a set of LED direct 7" bolt ins I bought from NAPA. They are made by TRUCKLITE. GOOGLE trucklight and look around the site. VERY NICE. And the best part.... They are the last bulbs you will ever buy.

Like from the rear view mirror of that car that won't move over. The red ones.

I wouldn't run the red or blue ones anywhere in the US, unless you have proper permissions.
Impersonating a cop is a pretty serious offense most places.

Just beware of cheap plastic crap on eBay - guess what - its cheap plastic crap...

Some good quality reasonably priced options especially for pre-S4 cars where the stock 7" sealed beams were truly awful.

The LEDs shown above seem to be reported to work well but are expensive and do look a bit different.

Whatever you decide on, go with an 8 inch version. This greatly improves the appearance by eliminating that silly chrome ring.
