Default 86.5 Under Hood 14 pin connector help

Hello folks,
Over the last 12 months I have pulled and rebuilt my engine. Along the way, the 14 pin connector came apart under the hood and I could not figure out what order the wires went back in. Some or them were easy because of their length but others were iffy. I searched the wiring diagram but could not find this connector. Also not sure if I should be looking at an 86 or 87 for this car. Is there anyone out there that can help me with the wire color pinouts for this connector? I have searched but could not find what I needed. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I cant wait to get this thing started.

I found this online.

You may want to confirm with others.

Hope it helps!

Thank you Prescott I will give it a try. I know she is getting gas, just no spark yet. This could be the issue as mine is nothing like above.

Ok, to be sure, I have the 32 valve 4 cam 5ltr engine. My 14 pin connector has a red wire right beside the yellow one. That I am sure of as they are to two bottom wires and easy to place. Its the others that are confusing me. I have verified that the injectors are firing but have no spark.

Thanks again,

Thank you so much MrMerlin! I appreciate it much. I am hoping to get the next 20 years out of this engine.

Have to get her started first though.

really the only wire you need to start the engine is the starter wire,
the others could be disconnected
it will still start without the AAV.
BUT connecting all of the wires is best

I know it's expensive, but you will eventually need a new one and I've got a couple made up that I put together last weekend. Lots of the electrical issues will be resolved near and future.

Talk to Rog if you want one.

Wow Sean, What a great resource. I've seen many (including my own, where the insulation has just flaked off completely leaving exposed bare (oxidized) wires. All kinds of bad **** happens with that.

Rod Kubis come over a few years back and helped my rebuild the one on my GT. So far, so good. It was a full day's work. If I were to do it again, I would probably opt for replacing.

It's nice to see that you've assembled all the bits and pieces to make a new one. Very nice.

I have ask... how much are they?

Sean, Stan, I got mine straightened out and still no start. Any chance I could buy an hour of either of yours time sometime today? (Wednesday) I am ill and by myself and would love to have some guidance on further trouble shooting. I know I have gas, The starter works fine. I haven't proven spark or no yet but have no idea to do it without someone inside the cockpit turning the kwy.

You can use a cheep Timing light and place the inductive pickup on a plug wire, any one of them, if it blinks you have spark (test each coil bank).
Don't rule out that the spark plugs are not fouled unless you look at them.

Also you stated you have fuel pressure, how do you know that and the bigger question is, are the injectors switching open/close?
A Noid light on an S3 is not easy to use due to the injectors being inside the fuel rail, maybe a mechanics stethoscope to listen for "clicking" might work, or test for voltage switching on/off at the injectors.

You should be able to turn over/start the engine using the 14 Pin under the hood, just make sure car is in Neutral and key is on.

Sorry to hear that your not feeling well i hope you get better fast.

Ok so lets do an easy test first ,

spray some ether into the intake then crank the engine if it fires then your missing fuel.
Next get an extra spark plug and a jumper wire with alligator clips,
pull one of the plug wires off ,
then install the spare plug,
take the jumper wire and clip it to the electrode,
and then the other end to a good ground.

Crank the engine see if you have spark and what color it is.

Please report your findings
