Default 928 MYs and build quality

For those that have experienced different model years, have any particular model years struck you as better or worse overall quality control than others?

Not asking about features or design changes over the years, but more along the lines of assembly, fit/ finish and parts quality.

I have a 78 my friend a 91GT. Quality is the same, imo. Early seats a bit more fragile. The middle sections tend to puff up.

Mine was built on a good day, it seems. One would think that the amount of hand assembly would allow inconsistencies in build quality, but it doesn't seem the case. Across the ones I've had my hands on, the biggest variables are associated with the work done on them after they left the factory rather than before. Find an example that's been properly cared for, and ownership can be a joy. If service has been done by the lowest bidder, you may get lesser results. In my limited experience anyway.

Ya need to find out if your car was built on a Friday. Germans always drink on Fridays and confuse parts. Mine was built on a Friday and they stuck all the good parts on it that day.

I have a few and see no difference on build quality year on year.
