Default Coolant leak

My son was driving the 82 5 speed and steam came up from the bonnet, temps rose a bit and he pulled over at a Shell station.

I drove over and the leak wasn't catastrophic, but required almost a gallon of distilled water to fill up the reservoir. Luckily the gas station had distilled drinking water.

Anyway, took her home and discovered the leak was from the heater hose coming off the water bridge. The lines are less than two years old, but it bulged on the bottom of the line near the nipple on the bridge and developed a thin stress crack.

I replaced the line with thicker walled hose and hopefully this fix any future problem.

Thankfully it wasn't more serious than making my clean engine messy, but food for thought for those who drive their car through the winter. Check those lines out for signs of failure.
