Got my LH-brain rebuild!!!
I just got my brain back from the UK from John Speake the owner of jdsporsche.com. It was a very pleasant expirience and I wanted to share it with everyone (I am not affiliated with him), just a very happy customer.
After having quite a rough time with some other "shady" rebuilder (I had a long post a while ago), I finally shipped my LH-brain to John and he took care of the problem the same day he got my unit.
He was very patient explaining me every step of the process, explained what the other rebuilder did wrong or did not do and send me the unit back.
I plugged it in, connected the battery and turned on the ignition. Finally no more clicking injectors with the ignition on. I cranked it up and.... BBBWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
The whole rebuild with John cost me $550.00
Thanks John, great work.
regards,
Sab.

Isn't terrible that we Americans are incapable of fixing auto electronics.
Don't you sometimes wonder how all those electronics companies in Silicon Valley
can produce anything. They must be sending things to Europe in the end.
I guess the U.S. is becoming a real second rate country!
What happened to the 928 parts big three? Can we no longer rely on them
for our 928 parts?
Hopelessly

Lorenfb,
"We Americans" are capable of fixing/developing/reverse engineering anything that makes a sufficient buck. The big three don't make most of the parts they sell, they get them from suppliers.
Your chauvinistic attitude towards John Speake's incredible service and ability, just because he's not on this continent, is short sighted and unnecessary.

I think everyone has their own specialties. If one can not help and another steps up to the plate, great. It makes life a little better knowing more people are here to support us.

Sab: many thanks for your custome, and letting m eprove I can do what I say !
Lernfb: England is not too far away............... the Big Three are excelent organisations supporting the 928 community. But they have to support large inventories of parts and large businedss premises.
I offer a specialist service. If you support me, I will still be hear to keep your shark running when Bosch have long since had a corporate policy that they will no longer support such old ECUs and MAFs.
Early this year there wre no LH ECUs for 928s available from Bosch/Porsche for several weeks.......the writing is on the wall !

Sab: Glad to hear BBWWAA is back.
Loren: As Ernest says, obviously we have plenty of capabilities to repair LH's in the States. I believe there is just not enough volume to make it economically feasible for the potential repair vendors, which is unfortunate.
John: Great that we have your services available! Good job.

Hi Don,
I love those mille miglia wheels you have. Could you give more info about them, width, price, where you bought them. What tires do you have and any larger pictures?

I did a search on Yahoo & Google under "lh control unit" and found
only one possible company in the U.S. for the part. There may be
more, but I only reviewed the first two pages.
I guess most of you guys have done extensive searching for other
possible sources for this part. Has anyone tried searching the Internet
using other search terms? I really hate to buy a 928 and have
to worry about such a problematic key part and not having multiple
reliable sources. I've seen a lot of posts about this problem. Many
Porsche shops tell me that once this unit fails, the car is "dead in
the water".
Do you think that because of the failure rate of this part and the
non-availability of it, that you can buy most later 928s dirt cheap?
I guess this is good from a buyer's perspective. Maybe I should
look at buying an older one, 1980 or 1981.

Before this turns into an political flaming thread....
Well Loren, I was going to say that perhaps John could be presuaded to take a US partner to handle the North American business (for a cut of the profits of course), but I see by looking over his website, he already has agents in the US.

Our local agents in the USA and Europe offer fast delivery on an exchange basis.

Hi Cobey,
The "agents in Europe and US" is for MAFs only at present. I have a "agent elect" in the USA so I can offer a more locally based service for US customers, and I hope he will be active in the near future
I just need some orders to generate the cash flow to set this up - test jig, parts etc.
