Hey gang,
I have an 87 with 130k on the clock fresh off an intake refresh with tapping lifters. Is there anything that can be done do quiet them down a bit?

Have you drive the car a bit?
Sometimes it only needs to be driven to cure this.
Also, you can try this:
http://swepcolube.com/products/swepc...e-oil-improver
Didn't try it yet but have two bottles waiting in the garage...
Will next year.

Be sure the cam plugs have been replaced with pins. Search for this, as the symptoms are the same, clicking lifters.
There are several threads on this subject, call one of our vendors for details and pins. This is a must do for early S4s.

Swepco 502.
Have some head room on the dipstick.....
Drive the car until it's thoroughly warmed up (read heat soaked)...
Then while the car is idling, add a bottle or two of the 502.....
If it's gummed up lifters, they'll clear pretty quickly..... if it's mechanical...well then you have other issues.
