When the motor went twang and Andrew was stuck on the side of the road scratching his head in bewilderment an old drunk who happened to be walking by sympathetically stopped and asked what the problem was. Andrew duly replied "Piston Broke" to whit the old boy replied "I know what you mean - I have the same problem"!
Best wishes for the new construct!

It is interesting how the "First time I saw the car" identifies it with the owner.
I think of the Coke Car as being Constantines - I knew him first and then he bought it and raced it at Sebring and around Florida.
Now it is going to be at the last Hell event and get imprinted as AO's car.
Most universally, it has its own identity as the Coke Car..
To all who have built, contributed and raced it: Thanks for keeping the flame burning!

Which "Tim" do you refer? I remember a "Tim" [Westby?] who raced a red 928 back around 1999 who I used to write to from time to time but no idea what happened to him or his 928 [until now?],

Hope you are well and going great! Yes, Tim Westby, his red 928 from "back around 1999" is the 928 we are discussing in this thread. Ironically I was just looking back thru all of Tim's Invoices, He/we started the madness in December of 1998 (almost 20 years ago)! First came the "S5" rear Wing, crazy it was still there after almost 20 years later,, then the first set of Kinesis Wheels and "heat Cycled" tracktires (which followed every 4 months of so), then came the headers, suspension, then wider wheels, etc, etc, What is so telling about how well Tim took care of this 928 was during all of the transitions to track car, he was still ordering new carpet sets, etc to keep it looking new. Anyway this went of for years as it transitioned to full track car. As I mentioned before, Tim and I had a blast prepping, and caring for this 928.
Thanks for bringing up the good ole days!
All my best,
Dave

It is kind of strange thinking back some 19 years and remembering the various characters who have been and gone, some sadly no longer with us. Without such folks I would probably have lost interest in the 928 many years ago. The shared knowledge has retained my interest, saved me a bundle and kept the thing running. Now I try to help pass on the knowledge whilst still learning. Not too keen on being flat on my back under jack stands in 40C heat so try to do my maintenance and project work in the cooler season.
Rgds
Fred
