Default Bouncy Tach

84 Euro S 5-speed, 46k miles.

My tach is wonky. When turning the key to the run position before starting the car, my tach jumps around frantically. If left in the run position (engine off), it will continue doing so for a minute or so, and then stop and behave normally. The car will start fine when the tach is acting up, and the tach will continue doing its dance after the car is running, and then eventually settle into normal behavior. This wonkyness can resolve itself in a minute or so, or last several minutes, even after driving off.

Before diving into the pod, is there anything specifically I should be looking for?

All other gauges, warning/dash lights, electrical systems work as they should.

I have attached a short video of a mild episode, and can get other video if helpful. Thanks for any clues.

Hmm, makes sense. My CPS is less than 3 yrs old, so hadn't considered that. I will check the connector to make sure it is clean and seated fully...
