Default What is the highest mileage on a 928 the group know of?

I am wondering what the highest mileage recorded for a 928 is?

I have seen a post with a 225k car for sale.

It would be interested to know the stories behind very high mileage cars.

Thanks

My 90GT has 370,000km. 200psi/cylinder. Oil is darkish on the dipstick after 8,000km but not black. Driveline is silent.

There are a few in Brisbane/Sydney over 400,000km but you wouldn't know until seeing the odometer.

Ten years ago I heard of a '79 model in Germany with over a million k's.

Conversion factor: 62mi = 100km.

Mine has 200k miles, with a lot of track time and still pulls strong.

I owned one with 240k on the odometer, and the odometer had been broken for a couple of owners.

I bought an '87 S4 with 255K, back in June. This was Pirtle's car and he had his mileage well documented. It was only driven about 10K miles per year.

We've got a couple of high mile ones here in DFW. Rogers '86 with 500k, an '87 with 600k and I forget what the other is at 400k or so. Mine is sitting at 207.

1046000 KM is impressive but 30000 Euros is not

Thanks for the posts. My 60 000 miles now seem brand new.

It would be cool if these cars could talk and tell their stories. Some previous owners may not agree

Bear in mind that the odometer gears often break in these and they can also spin additional gears which means you can get a car that has 200k skipping to 300k just by pushing the reset odo button or during the gear fix process. (and that works in reverse as well, I guess).

You can't fool the wear and tear though and these cars were built to last.

My car is at 245k miles now. When I got it in 2006 the odo was broken and it read 203k miles (and wear showed it was pretty close to accurate if not low). I did a top end refresh and dropped the pan to take a look and it's all nice and clean and tight inside. Compression is a little low in one cylinder but I'm 99% sure that's an oil seal rather than ring issue.

I have no doubt that 300k miles is possible without any bottom-end work required, maybe much more with proper care. They actually last longer if they're driven regularly than if they sit for long periods of time idle.
