Question Key locked in car, in through the hatch?

My keys are locked in my '84S and I tried bending a hanger To lift the lock per everybody's advice, but the hanger isn't stiff enough or I'm doing it wrong. I was able to see the lock wiggle but I couldn't get it to move up to unlock.

I remember about 10 years ago there was some mention of a way to get into the car through the hatch?

Does anybody body know how to do this? If so, please PM me with the directions.

Thanks,

Call a locksmith and ask if they can get it open. Better than ermoving glass.

You can pop the large rubber plug on the driver's side floor pan anf get acess to the inside too.

For the hanger trick, you need a heavy guage hanger and just use the hook section.
Another way is to remove the phillips screw of the drip rail over ther door at the crack between the roof and the hatch, remove the drip rail trim lifting up fron the rear, it will bend to distortion and have to be restraightend, but once removed you can gain access through the top of the window with a stiff wire to pull the door handle or grab the keys.

I tried the hook tool again this morning but the hanger wasn't stiff enough (I thought it would be stiffer in the morning? ;-) )

I then tried removing the drip rail to get in through the top of the door. This worked fairly well but when I hooked the door handle with the bent wire, it would release just before the door would open.

I finally went for the passenger side quarter window. I was able to remove it without breaking anything, so good news bad news.

The bad news is that I can't seem to get the window back in. Is there a trick I am missing?

Thanks,
John

There are sime really cheap tools on the market to open cars. I saw a complete set for virtually all car brands at the Techno Classica in Essen Germany.
Have you tried the trick with the rope around the seal to pull the rubber over the metal seamweld?

Indeed there is a non-invasive way that has been mentioned already. YMMV.

You will need 1/4 inch rope a few feet longer than the circumference of the winow seal, wrap the rope around the seal overlaping just an inch or two inside the groove that the seamweld would rest in, put the loose ends inside and lay the glass in position, a helper will be needed to apply moderate pressure to the glass, pulling the rope will the bring the seal over the lip and into place, may need a couple of trys to master the technique.

Be very careful not to damage the seal - the seals cost more to replace than the glass!
