Default Ebay 87 S4

Anyone know any history on this S4 in the Chicago area?

This same car has been on Craigslist in SC and now in Chicago. Actually, I saw that car in person - if it the one that was in Wilmington, SC. Body was in exceptional shape, owner was an ex-body man. I drove it the transmission shifted good, the fans and flaps worked. The wheel offsets were off - the wheels skimmed of some of the pain on the calipers. The pictures in the auction are from the same place I saw it. I think is an honest car. I have pictures of it some where.

Thanks Kevin. It's not all that far away from me, and I've been half-way considering bidding because it looked and sounded like it had potential. Did you see it in person while it was for sale? If so, did the owner say why he was selling?

It's been on the Chicago C/L forever @ $11,000. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for as it has no reserve on the ebay auction.
I thought about checking it out, but decided to pass after trying to decipher the description. It's one of those deals where I'd like to say I read the first sentence...except there wasn't one.

Have to say that texts from seller haven't been much easier, and is the reason I've been considering passing.

Anyone in the greater Chicago area able to put some local eyes on this car? I have someone in GB interested.

Here is the website for the sellers business, curious why the car is in North Chicago:

How do you determine that it has no reserve?

It would say "reserve not met" under the current bid.
In theory, if it doesn't get another bid in the next 15 hours, he'd have to let it go for $4750.00.

I think that might be an option for the seller because I seem to remember that not being 100% the case.

But i''m probably wrong as I have never been an ebay seller or buyer.

Also, for most of the 928's I've ever seen auctioned off on Ebay, I've always been of the understanding that having the highest bid at the end of the auction mainly means first right of refusal pending PPI.

That said, I've been burned before by an Ebay seller who didn't fully disclose the condition of a car I was high bidder on who refused to return my deposit when the actual condition ended up not matching his auction description, so trying to learn as much about the seller before bidding seems just as important, if not more so, than trying to learn the actual condition of the car.

I queried him about the dash pad and TB/WP. He said that the dash cover has been glued on and he understood the belt was done by PO, but he had no receipts and could not verify when it was done nor by whom. So it would follow that the "book of receipts" he has does not include this very important receipt.

I find sellers hardly ever post the Q/A in the space provided; could be lazy or they don't want to divulge anything.

I guess he's selling it b/c "I like turbo cars."

OK, so this car clearly has a few obvious issues.
But WTH, was someone really able to pick it up for $5115..?

Was the high bidder anyone on this list?
And, more importantly, is the deal going to go through..?
