Default Fitting a reversing camera - need to find the easiest reverse wire connection

I have bought a JVC head unit with 3.5" screen so I can fit & use a reversing camera. This needs to connect to the reverse light wire to give power when reverse gear is selected.

- Can anyone suggest the easiest place to connect into the revers light circuit? [my88 S4]

I have looked around the rear lights etc but there is nowhere easy to make a connection.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

I tied into the wires right behind the tool panel. Drivers side.

I did the same, it's easy to access and plenty of space to work in.

Thanks guys. Do you have any photos? I looked behind the panel but couldn't see the wires.
Guess the loom may be different on a Right Hand drive car?
Thanks

You'd do far better to pick it up at the CE panel.

On an '88 Auto U24 is active high in reverse - from the gear selector

Thanks Alan
Will this just give a signal or is it a power supply to the lights?
My JVC manual calls for a power wire to the rear reversing lights?

Thanks

As a separate issue - the radio signal is very weak / poor. Have tried a couple of head units on most of them cannot receive radio stations - just my old kenwood?

Is there an aerial booster somewhere that may have gone faulty?

Just had a more detailed look at my aerial problem -
- Checked the 250mA power out for the aerial & that's all connected
- If I hold the aerial connector I get a better reception
- If I UN-Plug the aerial all together the radio signal is BETTER???

How do you figure that one out?

Where exactly did you tie in to these wires? I can't see any black/blue wire outside the loom anywhere?

Can you post a photo to help?

U21 directly feeds the reversing lights - But it doesn't really matter - either should work OK for this.

Your antenna amp has died or it is not connected to the power at the remote end.

A dead amp is worse than no amp

The CE panel is just far far easier... its right there - why are you still looking for other answers?

The camera itself needs the power. Meaning you would have to run the wire all the way up to the ce panel.
