I had to laugh…a couple days ago I was driving home from work in the GT and from behind I can hear the familiar sound of a Ferrari coming up in traffic (F12 Berlinetta). I am stopped at a set of lights so he pulls up next to me in the left turning lane and stops…he rolls down his window and yells out “ Hey I love your car, it looks Fantastic”. I know he owns several Ferrari's including a F40, F50 and several others…so it’s quite the compliment.
The Antique 928 still attracts attention…

The one thing for me that I felt was lacking with the 928 was the sound. Having driven an old 71 911 for 25 years, the sound the 911 made was/is amazing...when I got the 928 I noticed the sound at idle of the 928 was a rumble, but running through the gears...the sound of the engine was subdued. I have CATs and resonators, but recently removed the muffler and added the RMB and now the sound is 5L-32V-HEMI Amazing!! Driving down the highway at speed you would never notice there was no muffler...but between 3000 and 5000RPM...Wow the engine howls at a very unique pitch
I now look at the 911 in the garage as a princess...(when my wife is not using it as a daily driver)

After 30+ years it doesn't "look" like a 30+ year old car styled for those times and so doesn't get that 'instant' recognition of classics like Mustangs, Corvettes, Ferraris, 356's, Lambo's, Maserati's etc.
Instead, our cars continue to be politely and understatedly contemporary.

The timeless looks are a double-edged sword, and IMHO this hurts the price.

Doesn't stop them being noticed. I'm just back from town where one fellow went apes**t from the footpath (sidewalk) and an older woman at the gas station commented on the speed potential.
Come to think of it, the car gets good comments a few times a month.

It's weird, back in 80's, it was all about downsizing. Now it's a race to add bulk and height while trying to maintain fuel economy.

When I look at new cars like the Corvette, Dodge Charger, they looks big and heavy compared to the 928. I frequently get asked about my 928, especially at the gas station.
