Should have cleaned it again after preheating it
I should have cleaned it one more time before putting it in the oven to preheat. Not sure if you can tell but on the top it seems like some oil was trapped in a pore and dripped out. Hopefully I can wipe it away and just use touch up paint. I made a big mess powder coating the other day. I am going to build a miniature powder coating booth for small car parts and little projects of mine. If you guys powder coat your own intake manifold I would recommend you preheat it for 30 minutes and wipe of any oils that may have come out of the pores.

That's likely from the flappy bearing. Are the old bearings still in it? If so you need to change them.

yes, I read about people using a dremel attachment to remove the old one. I figured I could use an arbor press & bolt to install the new one (after frozen). It seems strange to me that people don't recommend of sealant or grease between the bearing and intake manifold.

FWIW you do know about the drill for cleaning the intake after it has been powder coated.
It bears repeating so you dont damage the engine.
This has happened more times than you can imagine.
Begin with a spray with simple green or some other good grease cutter solvent,
then rinse with hot water,
then blow dry with compressed air .
NOTE do this operation three times.
use an inspection mirror and examine the small crevices inside the manifold for debris from the grit blaster media to verify its spotless

A concrete wedge anchor works like a charm. There is a thread on it. Basically you put a concrete wedge anchor thru both bearings, nut on onn end and pop the bearings out one by one.
