Frustrating no start
Had a no start issue and the car was parked for 2 months. Pulled all fuses and relays and used deoxit to clean. Also recleaned many ground points even though all had been done less than 12 months ago. Finished work and it started straight up and except for a disconnected vacuum on the auto ran great. Drove it for two days and it was good. Parked it for 5 days and now it will not start!!
Tacho bounces and it fires but stops again almost immediately. Lots of long cranking with nothing.
I have started pulling it down to do the MAF and injector rewiring. I am also going to replace dampers as I get a fuel smell from the vacuum line off the front damper (actually got a small flow of fuel). Am going to do the front wiring harness, TB, WP, cam gears etc. etc.
I suppose I don't want to get it back together and have this happen again, especially in the middle of nowhere so am looking for some areas to check while I have it apart?
Thanks

with a leaking damper its possible you flooded the engine thus it ran fine till you had warmed it up then parked it , this gave it enough time for the damper to leak more fuel into the lines.
Bottom line replace the intake parts both knocks the CPS the hall sensor all 3 of the fuel system regulators (2 dampers and a FPR) also swap in new fuel lines if necessary

Thanks Mrmerlin,
Have just picked up G Brown fuel lines and dampers (thanks Roger). The FPR and CPS have only done about 4000 miles and there is no knock or hall sensor. Am also going to replace the MAF plug and all the injector plugs as most of the ends are breaking up due to heat and age.
Probably about a month of work for me with little spare time these days. Should say also doing TB, WP, all front gears and seals.
Thanks again

oops your Avatar picture looked like an S4,
sorry I missed your byline,
in that case you should consider swapping in a new idle control valve as these are wear items,
get the MAF rebuilt, swap in a new CPS and short harness to the TPS.
and a new temp 2 sender, swap in an O2 sensor use the factory part if your is original.
add a bottle of techron to fuel as well as 6 oz of MMO

Thanks Mrmerlin. all of those items were done with the FPR and CPS. The only thing I haven't done is the MAF but it will be next on the list to have it rebuilt. I did a top end refresh with x pipe and fast flow cats with new O2 sensor. This is why it is frustrating as I have done everything I can think of.
I am hoping the fuel dampers will sort it out but I will probably order and fit a new CPS while I am doing those rear fuel lines and MAF plug.
Regards
