Emergency Brake cable..fixable??
1989 S4
Recently failed inspection due to a stuck rear caliper (passenger side). They also said the emergency brake is not engaging on that same side - a visible break in the cable covering is seen just after it comes out of the brake area.
Through searches, etc., I've learned that the emergency brake cable comes in two parts - a longer cable and a shorter cable. It appears it is the shorter cable that makes it way to the passenger side??
Question is....while replacing the brake caliper, is it possible to pull the emergency brake cable and "unstick" it? Clean out whatever is binding it up, re-wrap it and re-install???
Anyone have any experience with this???

I would change the cable itself.
You can buy a used one from 928Intl.

That's what I did - actualy changed both - with good result few years ago.
Take the time to clean and adjust everything while you're there.

Is the break in the actual cable housing or the metal sleeve that connects to the brake backing plate? The metal sleeve is available separately and is easily replaced.
