Morning sickness
Hi.
I'm pretty sure she's not pregnant :-) , but my 1986 928S has had the case of morning sickness. Every morning the car starts fine. Then after a few seconds it goes into the morning sickness routine, as follows:
- starts idling really bad, shaking. No fuel smell. Revving up helps, but you can feel the hiccups.
- Runs like crap, like it's running on 1 cylinder. If I press on the gas it gets worse, but if I easy up it slowly gets back to normal.
- Within about 5 minutes it starts working perfectly fine. I take the highway to work and when I press on the gas sometimes it stumbles but soon it gets back to normal.
- My commute is about 15 minutes and when I get to work it's running fine. Later in the day when I leave it's still running great and drives beautifully. Idles solid and smooth.
I recently had a full intake refresh done, including cables, new distributor. I had the injectors removed and cleaned by Witchhunter.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Elias

When you say you "had a full intake refresh done" I'd take it back to those that did it and have them diagnose the issue.

It could be your ISV not properly opening and allowing enough air into the intake. It's a common problem on earlier cars with a similar functioning aux air valve.
Check the resistance on your temp II sensor as they are inexpensive and relatively easy to replace as recommended above.

I noticed a bit of morning sickness last year while mine was in for a timing belt and water pump, a year later, I have a black 1:87 928. Must have had an affair with my C280 in the garage at night as that's the only other black car I have.
