Default Mystery Plug - Tired of looking

Can someone tell me where the grey wire goes in that image? It's part of the harness where the tension sensor wire goes. I can't find where it plugs into and it's bothering the crap out of me. Pictures of the receiving end of that connection in the engine bay are appreciated. Thank you.

I think that goes to the Hall Sender behind the R cam gear.

I think it goes through the timing cover near the tensioner, I dont think I have a pic, but will check.

since your doing a timing belt,

you have already figured out that the belt must have the wire harness pass through its center as well as the ABS wire.

Anyhow the gray wire you asked about is the hall sensor wire,

NOTE this will rout in front of the timing cover,
then wrap around the outer edge of the cover,
Then attach to the rear of the passenger side cam tower cover at the sensor.

NOTE its quite common for the Knock , Hall and Crank sensors to all fail from the crumbling connector and shedding insulation issue.

IOWs replace all 4 of these parts
2 knock sensors ,
one CPS,
and one hall cam sensor

I think the OP is talking about the plug in the middle of his picture. I think that is the connector for the timing belt light. It gets plugged into the timing belt cover.
Hope that helps.

Are you talking about this one?
If so, that's the connector for the timing belt light that goes into the center timing belt cover.

if you read the first line of the OP he seems to know that the small connector goes to the tensioner sensor.

This line....
Can someone tell me where the grey wire goes in that image? It's part of the harness where the tension sensor wire goes.

thus the only connector part left is the hall sensor.

Yeah I'm talking about the gray wire... In this picture it looks like it connects somewhere near the passenger side head, but I don't see anywhere to connect it on my car! Very frustrating.

It must be the hall sensor... I'm just not seeing it.

OP please reread post 4 then this one..

..you will possibly have to remove the right hand lifting plate,
1 bolt holds it to the head to get a better view of the hall sensor .

NOTE the hall sensor is on the backside of the cam pulley housing near where the # 1 sparkplug wire routs.

Oh I would suggest to remove the fuel pressure gauge once your up and running,
no need to temp fate with a possible fuel leak

The hall sender connector is installed facing downwards, so you won't see it from above.

All the pictures I've posted are not my own, just linked from a google search of "928 tension sensor wire'. So no worries on the pressure gauge.

I'll be back at it this week if time allows, but most likely this Saturday-Sunday. Will let everyone know how the search ends. I'm quite confident that with the responses I've received here that I'll be able to find the connector on the Hall Sensor and all will be made right again.

Thanks for the help everyone, that was one that made me question my mechanical abilities for a minute! Going through the volumes of manuals was proving to be fruitless and frustrating. For future reference, can anyone point me to the page in the manual where I'd find more info on the sensor and associated wiring?
