Default Cat back exhaust options ('88)

Hey all,

Well after 25 years my exhaust, is well exhausted.. Sorry for the bad pun.

Porsche parts seem very expensive to just replace what has failed (drivers side intermediate muffler) and if I just do this, then I am sure the other side will follow.

Search through this forum for what others have done and didn't really find much for the 1987+ models, most seem to be for the older varieties.

What has anyone else done for a cat back solution? Anyone uses a local Midas shot or similar to custom fabricate something?

I did look at some custom solutions from Carl and a couple of the other 928 suppliers, but at $1800 for these I would still like to explore options.

Any thoughts?

Hi Nick,

You are in a great location for exhaust work! A good friend of mine owns Mufflex in Trenton. He has done many 928's, early and late and is the original manufacturer of the RMB. The owners name is Denny and is very talented and really knows the cars (he's the reason I've had 7 of these things).
The number is 609 890 0481. Even though you don't know me, tell him I sent you.

In a week or two I will have a complete cat-back to final muffler exhaust, all stainless with borla mufflers sitting on my garage floor looking for a new home. It's in great shape. Owner is going back to the stock exhaust for a number of reasons. One is that the borla mufflers make it a PITA to do any service on the auto transaxle. However, that's a non-issue for a 5-speed; it'll work great.

It's a single piece; all welded together. If you can bring a pickup truck to take it home I'm sure the owner will make you a deal. If I have to cut it up and ship it, it will be more

If your interested let me know by Saturday night and I will accelerate my schedule of removal to facilitate a close examination of the exhaust and the taking of pictures.
