Default Air filter fitment issues with Volvo motor mounts.. pics inside

So, finally was able to get the motor in this past weekend and get the car running.

One of the problems that I am having is fitting the air filter with the Volvo motor mounts as the engine is much higher. It appears as though the fuel line is slightly off the firewall which isn't helping me out any.

I would like to secure it back to the fire wall but in a way that looks factory and also will hold. I would prefer to retain the ability for this to be "soft mounted" if you will against the fire wall. I am unsure if a rigid solution would be a good thing when you add in vibration and slight flex of the car.

Anyone tackle this already? Any help and ideas are appreciated.

Cheers,
Bryan

The attachment tab isn't working so I can't post pics right now. Will try again later. When you click on "manage attachments" nothing is coming up.

Of all the issues I've heard of the Volvo mounts, and I've installed several dozen, never heard of an issue putting on the air filter.

This is odd.

I put the Volvo mounts on my 90 S4 and the engine sits where it is supposed to. However, I did not remove the engine to do the motor mounts.
Make sure the engine is sitting in the engine bay properly.

Engine is all in... only one way to go if you do it correctly.

Engine looks too close to the firewall.

I assume you pulled the transaxle/TT back before you pulled the motor. Is it back where it is supposed to be?

Motor is back to where its suppose to be along with transmission and torque tube. All fits like it did, just a little taller thats all.

something doesnt look good here,
I would suggest to remove the aircleaner and measure the distance between the fire wall and the rear of the intake. and then post a picture of exactly where this was done so someone else can measure the same .
Also measure the height of the air cleaner standoffs maybe these are also too high.

Your fuel line clamps look like they also have been messed with, the black clamps should have the edges/ legs of them pressing against the fire wall.

That said there isnt much in the way of putting the engine back into the wrong hole as the transmission would also be out of line, this assumption is based on the the fact that you have the whole drive line bolted down

If I were to bet, it's the stand offs that the filter housing sits on. They move and you can move them too.

Why anyone would go with the OE mounts from Porsche is beyond me. But to each his own. I know which ones I'll warranty.

The mount for the actual filter could be the issue.

To Merlins comments, The motor is all buttoned up with drive line and everything including PKlamp and standard clamp. All looks good on all other fitments and engine sits a little higher but looks like it did before I pulled it. Pics coming soon.

Here you go.

Like I said, trying to get the fuel lines back against the wall. The clamps have just started to fail over the lifetime of the car.

those saddle clamps should have the legs touching the fire wall,l
this will move the fuel line back
You can reseat them but first you need to bend the metal tabs straight and a helper with screwdriver and hammer may be needed to reseat the metal

the new air cleaner standoffs may also not be the correct parts,
IIRC the rubber is about 10MM thick from each mounting surface,
yours look to be thicker than this

The rubber portion of the standoff is 8mm thick.
