Barber Motorsports Museum find....more pics added.
I had the opportunity to drop by the Barber Motorsports Museum last week while in Birmingham. While I'm not a motorcycle nut, I was impressed with their extensive collection of bikes and Lotus cars. But what caught my eye, down in a section that was currently off limits to mortals was this little gem. I tried to bribe the guide to get me down to see her but they were in a restoration process and could not let the public on the bottom floor.

Car museums are like Zoo's to me...infinitely sad...things of wonder and beauty in a place they were never meant to be.
I understand the educational value of Zoo's and Car Museums...particularly for our younger generations...but it is still a bit melancholic.
Cheers,

I agree. I think the Peterson Automotive Museum in LA is one of the only that get their cars out on the street every so often.

Adrian, I did not, which was one of the reasons I wanted to get down there. It looked like a bone stock S4 with man hole wheels. Nothing said to me special except that it is 928 special.
Guide told me to call ahead next time and he would get me down there. I was all ready to drop a $20.00 in his pocket to get me down to that floor.

Outside the museum was the Porsche Motorsport Driving Experience. They were running 991s and 991 GT3s around the track. What I would have given to be out there with them.
