Default Bulb test circuit

My bulb test circuit works great, half the time. The other half, all the lights just stay on. Can I unplug this thing without repercussions, and if so, how?

Your ignition switch is going bad, replace it with a good one. Your bulb test circuit is working fine. Believe me, I have been in the exact same situation you are in.

If you are referring to the lamp control next to the parcels shelf, no it can not be removed w/o jumpers in place of it.

Do you mean the ignition on bulb test?, or the bulb control module? (that gives warnings due to broken bulbs)

Thanks for the come backs! I believe it is the ignition on bulb test that occurs at engine start. When it malfunctions, all of the warning lights stay on and the volt meter drops to 10. When things go well, all the lights go out except for the brake pads warning light which the PO disconnected., and the voltmeter reads 13.

I think it's working fine - your problem is with the alternator which isn't always starting up.

The alternator generating properly is what terminates the bulb test mode...

Check the contuinuity of the exciter line to the alternator (the small blue wire connection), and if that is good then you need to check the alternator itself - you may need a new regulator/brushes. Many threads on alternator exciter issues...

Thank you Alan!

Joe- Chasing an electrical issue that may be my alternator- I just read this and, sure enough, bulb test mode is only on for a second- if that!

Thanks for posting. Curious what your solution will be!

You can put a jumper on the brake pad sensors (wire the sensor wires together at each sensor) and that brake pad light will not light up any more.
