Default Rear wheel tire-275/40R17-advice

Hi all,
The only rear wheel tire I found for my new Cup2 wheels are Goodyear Gsd3 -275/40R17.
Not very much convinced on both size and grip but I have no other choice unfortunately. Please let me know your feedback if you had used these tires before I buy them

I used those on my Cup 1's and liked them.

You used to be able to get Michelin PS2s in 275/40R17 and you couldn't complain about the grip (only the price & wear)...

I'm still running these - on Cup1's, great tire. Seems they are still available?: Tire Rack: Michelin PS2 274/40R17 - $302 each

Slightly more expensive - but rather better specs all round.

Default Options

There are lots of options in 245/40R17 via the online tire vendors, and the Michelin is a good one.

At a more modest price-point, Bridgestone 760 or BFGoodrich g-sport 2s are available from online sources. So too HTR-Z IIIs, IIRC. Or a little less conventional Vredstein Sessantas.

What is the widest tire I can put on my 9'' wide cup2 17"wheels.
Can 285/40R17 Michelin pilot sports work?

A 285 is too wide for a 9" rim, else I'd be running them

I'm running the BFG's G-Force 275/40 ZR 17 on the 9" rear Cup 1 and Cup 2 rims and the 225/45 ZR17" on 7.5" Front.
