Loose Air Filter Housing Strap - Super quick fix
Once I figured out the best approach, it took less than an hour (including taking photos) to get a very snug set of straps.
From very bottom - open up and take latch out. You'll end up bending the metal hardware. No worries - just hammer it flat.
Next up - make 90' angle. I put the piece on a vice grip and hammered it.
Then, I used a small screw driver (anything slightly thicker than retaining clip) so that I can continue to bend the metal, keeping space where the latch will be placed - it needs movement.
Next up - put retaining clip in and close it off all the way with light hammer action. lastly, I spray painted all the scratches out.
You can compare with original strap (all the way on top) with the modified strap, which is 1/2" shorter. Nice and tight.

Interesting option.
Depending on how loose the straps are you can also increase the bend of the c-shaped clamps at the end.
I did that by placing them in a vise and closing it step by step until the the straps were fitting snug again. Shortened the effective length of the clamps by about 10mm.
For VERY loose staps maybe both mods can do the trick.

Did some checking - the Rockauto part is cross-listed for the 911 and 924, and the # is 911 110 365 01. Parts catalog gives a 928 #, and a google of the Rockauto number returns images that don't look 928. So question for bills928- do they fit?

Right, no metal clip on 84.
85 USA begins with metal latch clips as shown in picture above.
(but not sure about 85-6 16V Euro)
In fact, 85/6/6.5 USA are as pictured, not sure S4-onward.

928westchester, nice way to revive old straps
Another even quicker fix is to cut a small piece if PCV / fuel line the width of the strap and Zip Tie it to the inside of the strap, do it behind the Air box (out of sight).
