I was just thinking about when I did my flex plate check the other day and had to loosen the headers to get the bell housing off....when the bell housing went back on I had vowed I was never going to loosen those frickin headers again....
so I just cut a corner off the bell housing at the furthest forward left bolt so it would slide past the headers....works great and can hardly tell I cut about a half inch off !!!

Hah...
Maybe I'm not the purist I thought I was either.
I only replaced 4 bolts of the bell housing so I can get it off without lowering the exhaust. The bell housing was designed for 6 bolts in Stuttgart so I hope this will be safe for vehicle function.

This is fine to do on Autos.
Manuals need all the bolts to help with the flex.
Also if your starter bolts to this (early and some strokers) then do not do this either.
