Dan,
I am looking forward to the event...is there going to be tables there for vendors?

Great Randy, I'm glad the registration worked for you.

And Marc, regarding vendor tables, we don't plan to have any. We're going to have the usual registration table with some SOCAL928, 928OC and other club info. to hand out, goodie bags and whatnot, but the weekend's emphasis will be on camaraderie and sharing knowledge at the tech sessions.

It should be a fun time. I hope you all can make it!

Just wanted to post to this thread to inform folks that this is turning out to be quite an event.

Hotel rooms have exceeded the requested block by SOCAL 928, so if you are going to attend, you best get off your Recaro and pick up the phone to make a reservation. I suggest you hurry to register for this event as well.

By estimated calculations, all things will be near capcity by the time this event rolls around. This is looking like a serious barn burner!

The support we have received in all capacities, has been nothing short of outstanding.

This event will be one to remember!

Arrrrrgh!!! I have a business conflict that prevents me from getting out of this Burg on Friday afternoon and the evening flights are booked. Unless I get a miracle (any "Dead Heads" with airline connections?), it looks like I wont make it. Anyone need a room? Man I'm bummed I'm going to miss this one.

Regards,
JE

9/30/03 UPDATE:

The event is shaping up nicely. We are looking foward to seeing many of you out here in SoCal and having a great time over several days. Just to update you all on a few important items:

REGISTRATION
I know it's easier to wait until the last minute or blow off the registration entirely, but we would really like to get the best headcount we can as the groups are getting to be quite huge.

As an incentive to get you to register, we are going to do a special door prize drawing for early registrants featuring some of the more expensive items that will be given away. I don't want to get into detail on all the door prizes (there are MANY), but trust me, it'll be worth your while to hit the registration form if you haven't already.

Sharktoberfest Registration

HOST HOTEL
What Keith mentioned is correct - the room block at the host hotel has just sold out. They still have rooms available, but that weekend is turning out to be a busy one for the hotel. Best to get your room sooner rather than later. See the info. link below for the hotel info.

See you in 3 weeks!

Hey Dan, I'm sure you've already thought of this - hand out blank name tags to each arrival (you know, the sticky types we've all had to endure at some time) instructing them to write their real and on-line names so that folks can match the real person to their Rennlist and SoCal 928 forum personalities.

I'm on it, Randy. I'm working on the door prize tickets this moment, but the tags will get done this week. And they'll be better than the stick-on kind. :-)

Dan, just received the Sharktoberfest notice flyer in the mail yesterday - very slick.

BTW - I tried several times this morning to re-register using the online form to update my selections - got the 'Server Error' message each time (thought you'd want to know):

Server Error
This server has encountered an internal error which prevents it from fulfilling your request. The most likely cause is a misconfiguration. Please ask the administrator to look for messages in the server's error log.

Thanks for the heads up on the error, Randy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...the damned thing. Sorry about that. There is a link on that page to my e-mail for those that just want to shoot me a note with their info.

If you look up that error code in the manual, it translates to: "Pacbell Sucks".

Thanks for the kudos on the flyer. You can thank Mark Anderson for spending the big bucks to put out a nice mailer to SoCal sharksters. Believe it or not, the photo backgrounds and layout were slammed together in just a few hours!

Wish I could make it but I won't be able to arrange time off work this time.

As for the sign up form working/bug. My 2 cents are the most likely bug is the comments area of the form.

Sometimes apostrophies, exclaimation marks, or commas are reserved characters that trip up the script parsing. People type in wildcard stuff and it screws up the form. What I do is on error email all the contents to a private address so you know when and how your scripting system breaks. You also get that data your losing.

Will anyone be recording video from the tech sessions? For those of us that will be missing out. It might even be a way for the Socal 928 group to make a little money. Down loadable video off of a web site, I wonder????

Just a thought

Bummer, after doing everything I possibly could to reschdule my business conflict and then flight, I couldn't do it. Had to finally bite the bullet and put the FF miles back into my account. I feel like a schmuck with Dan Bise attending Frenzy 7 and I can't make Sharktoberfest.

Next year I hope. This one is looking to be one HELL of an event.

Have fun guys.

Regards,
JE
