Passat Interior Light Pigtail question
NEWB question. Got new interior lights from Roger @ 928sRUs. Look and feel so much more solid that what was stock in our cars! I want to install these this weekend.
The Pigtail is on the right side when looking at the face of the light. There are 3 wires on the pigtail: top middle and bottom. Which wire from the car goes each pigtail wire?

I don't recall, but remove the back & the bulb - with a multimeter test the connections, which one goes directly to one end of the bulb when the switch is off - that goes to the red wire (or in hatch sometimes green wire), the other two are connected to the switch and then the other end of the bulb - connect the one that connects in door switched mode to the Brown/Wire wire (or in hatch sometimes white wire) and the other one for always on mode to the brown wire.

After a little exploration the wiring worked in my 88 S4 when done in this manner
Top pigtail wire - White/Brown
Middle pigtail wire - Brown
Bottom pigtail wire - Red
Butt spliced with shrink wrap with an extra wrap of silicone tape! after this photo was taken.
