Default cats placement

Last project to complete on the Euro S. Fabricating a large bore single exhaust to be run off MSDS headers. I want to be environmentally friendly so I am running 2 bullet cats. Is there an optimal distance from the collectors to place the cats?

While I haven't seen a recommendation specific for the 928, GM recommends the cats be installed 16"-20" from the closest cylinder head exhaust port. That applies to the factory cats on their E-rod packages (emission legal, 50 states). Too far back they don't get hot enough, and too close they get too hot and life span decreases (among other things).

Cheers!

Thanks Carl that's what my concerns were. In my case it sounds like I should then put them as close as possible.
