Default Windshield Woes in North Carolina...

Have an insurance claim for a replacement windshield. 91 S4-no antenna.

Get to the glass shop-they have a genuine Porsche windshield from the local dealer.

Wrong tint and has an antenna.

I contact Roger who is kind enough to give me the correct part number. (Talk about customer service!)

They get that one in and claimed it was the same: 92854101112

That it has an antenna and same tint as the only other one available (06 I think was the last 2 digits).

Question-has anyone with a 90-91 S4 or 92-95 GTS had a windshield installed of late? Did it have the antenna? Did you go elsewhere?

Also does anyone have a shop anywhere in North Carolina they trust to do the job?

Thanks in advance!!

Michael

It should NOT have a built-in antenna for that year. I just got a new windshield for my 90GT project from this place: http://prosourceglassintl.com/index.html

Great service, shipped to my house in a crate for $450. Dealt with Richard, no hassles and a very helpful guy.

Cheers!

The part number is FW0374GGN. It is a green tint with green upper shade band, no antenna. Be advised it is from a chinese manufacturer, but according to Richard it is the biggest manufacturer that does glass for OEM as well, so he said he had good experiences with them. I briefly looked over mine when I got it and can't see any waviness or defects.

From what I've read, he checks what he sells and stands behind it.

Yes, I have heard no bad things, and I had a great experience. Sounds like they found my old invoice?

Just needed the code. Found someone to install, I think.

Thanks everyone!

928 541 011 12 is clear (no tint) without an antenna and not 928 541 011 11 which is green tint without an antenna - not much difference really!!!!!

If the local Porsche dealer knew 1/1000 of what you knew...

Kevin Michael had several last I knew. Installed one in my 89, he is in PA. He is also a rennlist member. Do a quick search and you should find him.

My '94 GTS has the windshield with green tint along the top and antenna (and roof antenna).

Pretty sure it's the original glass?

Unless they started to run out of no antenna ones at the end of production I seriously doubt it was fitted at the factory.

Roger:
My '89 has both the antenna in the windshield AND the roof antenna. It was like that from the factory.

I understand that you carry the rubber pieces (GTS?) that fills the gap on the Windshield pillar? If so, gotta talk!

It is starting to sound like Porsche only ships with the Antenna. Second installer-same issue. Wonder if I should just go with the one from Richard Tankel...
