Yes - I agree this is a great idea, you will find that the hood is open in daylight far more often than in moonlight, so you mostly don't need/want the light...
Plus what I find is that the newer 91+ light gets really hot and can melt the plastic lens & black cover.

The battery drain issue may have been why the prior owner removed the light. As far as I can tell, my car doesn't have a battery drain issue.

Roger, I'll check whether the harness is installed over the weekend. That'll help me know what my options are. If I'm re-wiring the whole thing, replacing the stock unit ('91 & up) with something better becomes more attractive. If I can just use the existing wiring, the stock unit might be easier.

Alan - Any suggestions for improved units to replace the stock?
