And in a FWIW, the later cars use a jumper in the relay socket, allowing the 50 contact in the ignition switch to trigger the starter solenoid directly. Some early cars have other things besides the solenoid connected to the starter protection relay, so look carefully at the wiring for your own cars before you make that change.
And.... Document any changes you make to wiring. Add it to the car's logbook, so that you and any future owner/collector will be able to reference the logbook for all deviations from standard. Imagine how much blind fun it would be trying to get the car started, looking at a taped-off wire near the "A" connector at the bottom of the CE panel.
