Green is always a bad color for oil consumption--in my experience. YMMV

As an update, I have been talking offline to several of the guys who have worked at addressing the oiling issue, researching existing products/solutions, as well as trying to read every thread on the topic. Lots to wrap my head around. Will post a to-date summary as soon as I do a little more homework and talk to one more person.

Those who are familiar with the subject here on RL know that the discussions have become "contentious" at times.

Finally got a chance to do compression and leakdown tests. The good news is that, other than the common issues of working on a warm motor and the time it takes just to get to the spark plugs, its not to bad a task. Only pain is manually turning the motor over to TDC for each cylinder for leakdown.

Compression numbers as follows. #3 obviously merits attention:
#1=190
#2=202
#3=110
#4=180
#5=192
#6=200
#7=195
#8=200

So I tackled the leakdown test. #3 looked like this:

Because I understand leakdown is more of a comparative analysis than an absolute number, here are the other cylinders:

Although my mechanic stethoscope is mysteriously missing, the air was almost certainly leaking into the crankcase, based on my ear to the oil filler neck. Not from the exhaust, not from the intake and no bubbling that I could see in the cooling system.
