Default Rear axle 44 or 45 teeth?

CV joints are torn and I have been told to replace rear axles on my 1991. In my quest I've discovered that there are two different types? A 44 & 45 teeth.

How would I know which is correct for my vehicle?

Anything else I should do while this is apart?

86.5 > 95 are all the same....928 Int has rebuilts for about $250 each shaft exchange. Or you can get 4 new boot kits for about $80 if you wish to just regrease the cv joints and install boots does require removal from the car.

Sorry to bring up this old post but I also want to know what is the different between drive shaft with 45 teeth and drive shaft with 44 teeth on the ABS ring.

It's not 44 vs 45, it's 90 vs 45. 90 teeth were used on early setup from '84 to '86 and 45 from mid '86 onwards.
