Default What am I doing wrong?

The throttle body isn’t setting down on the standoffs. The front two are around 8.5mm in isolator thickness and the rear is just a bit over 15mm. To get the throttle body down over all of them I have to shove the unit to the back around a half inch. The assembly ends up being leaned forward. You may be able to see from the pictures that the back mount is being bound towards the rear of the car about a half inch and that the throttle rod would be sticking through where the upper radiator hose needs to be. I’m guessing that the mounts I bought for the front are too short. Any ideas?

I am not sure but it looks like the PET only shows 2 mounts. Are you sure the rear mount is suppose to be there?

I am not completely sure I understand what is being shown here.

Update...after looking closer...there is 3 mounts in the PET. Sorry. I would guess the rubber has changed shape with the heat it that area.

I just went through this yesterday on my 928. The throttle body seemed to come out easy enough, but after all the cleaning and such, upon reassembly the throttle body would not match up to the posts. What I discovered was the rubber isolators settle off center, what I did was loosen the rear one 180 degrees, and then all three matched up perfect to accept the throttle body. Hope this helps.

upon further study, the rear mount seems to be different than the front two, they all should round, the rear one in your pic is hex, maybe it is not correct?

You are correct. The rear mount is/was hexagonal. I don't recall if I got that from Roger on 928 Intl. I had to slightly grind off the hex points so it would fit into the round recess of the throttle body. I'm not sure if that is the issue or if if I have the wrong mounts. When I force it down onto the mounts, it is tilted towards the front of the car. I'm wondering if the front mounts need to be thicker. Here is a picture of where the rear mount stud is hitting the throttle body. It's hard to see from the picture, but I've put an arrow where the stud has scratched the casting.

The rear centered mount looks incorrect and like you say doesn't fit into the recess. The one on the passenger-side needs a taller upper stud to accept the bracket for the ISV.

Thanks Shane, OTR, and Dean. Yeah the rear does fit now, but it isn't right. I'll probably have to fabricate something for the passenger side for the ISV. The only difference on it is that the stud is about 1/4" longer as far as I can tell. I'll need to get on the phone this week and see what's available to get it mounted correctly.

Got it. I subbed in another 8.5 mm standoff that I had laying around in place of the 15 mm I was using for the rear and the throttle body dropped right down in there. I wish I would have thought to try that over the weekend.
