Default Lock cylinder

So, after a year-long, comprehensive refurb of my S4, the big test was a drive to the Wintergreen resort this past weekend to attend the First Settler's Region 55th anniversary shindig. About 320 miles round trip. The car performed flawlessly; not one hiccup.

However, one of the few parts that escaped my attention during my work cropped-up when I went to lock the car from the right hand side. The photo tells the story; it came out with the key.

Anybody know how the lock cylinder is held in position in the door? Is this a common occurrence? Obviously I need to dive inside the door...any suggestions on what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

you can see the answer in your pic - that threaded hole where a bolt should go. open the door and look for a matching hole near the latch. see this diagram

Good verbal description of the lock cylinder bolt in this thread, post #5:

Picture of the hole where the lock cylinder bolt would be, if it were there:

The good news is that you don't need to: "...dive into the door..." Bob, provided you have a replacement screw and ideally the cap that covers it on the inside, rear door edge.

Get a new rubber gasket and put it around the lock cylinder before you screw it back in. Roger has them, and they are cheap.
