Yes, the engine is higher than the rear by about a foot I would say. Whenever I remove the plenums I get about a tablespoon or two of oil out of each. I haven't installed any of the upgraded oil baffles yet.

No compression or leak down test yet but that's on my list of summer items since classes are over. Possible bent valves or worn valve guides perhaps? She runs strong, albeit transmission has bouts of acting up. What really worries me is the state of plug 1 where part of the ceramic appears to have suffered massive surface damage compared to the rest.

I'll try re-installing the old chip set. I've actually only had these problems since I installed the S3000. It's either my car wasn't up to it yet (maybe needed the engine torn down) or I've got bad chips...??

Avar,
You listed FPR was new, but that's what it sounds like to me. If my car is parked flat, or uphill, takes 3-5 seconds of cranking to start. Pointed downhill in my driveway, starts immediately. Your fuel is draining back out of the system somewhere, that's usually the FPR, as far as I know. Check the system for vacuum.

Thanks Kevin. I'll check for vacuum leaks.

You mentioned #1 and that spark plug. I just read about the car not having the stock chipset in it. There is a possible chance of detonation. Not good.

You really need to get a compression test gauge on there. Crank the car with the plugs pulled 3-4 turns and check the gauge after. Repeat. If the number one cylinder is lower than the others, drop a little bit of oil down the spark plug hole and compression test it again. If the PSI increases on the gauge, consider possible busted rings.

So all plugs loosened 3-4 turned or just the selected cylinder?

I would compression test all cylinders so you know what the numbers are in addition to the condition of the motor.

She runs!

Replaced the fuel pump with a brand new one off Amazon (Bosch PN - $125, Porsche PN - $230). Confirmed against the old pump, correct part number. Different color though. Not sure of any other differences. I didn't change the fuel filter but will do that when Roger comes back and I can get one off him.

Will do a compression test and find out what's going on in this engine. Expecting the worst, hoping the best. I don't think I can afford to pull the engine and rebuild it right now. Might have to wait until next year when I'm working.
