Interesting fix for 928/sauna...
Even since I got the 928 on the road the passenger compartment has been uncomfortably hot.
I made sure the heater valve was working, fixed all the vacuum leaks, etc, etc. No results.
The other day I was messing with the interior and my wife appears in the garage. The first thing she notices is that the windshield is dirty on the inside. At first I don't get it, so she wipes a streak in it right in front of the steering wheel. Sure enough. She rubs her fingertips together and says, "Ugh, why did you wipe engine oil on the inside of your windshield?"
....The light goes on. After inspecting the rear lip that separates the engine bay from the air intake and windshield wiper motor bay, I notice a shiny lip where it appears there was a seal at one time.
Doh! It shouldn't have come as a surprise that engine heat was being forced up out of the engine bay right into the fresh air intake. So I bought some weatherstrip (one side pinches a metal edge the other is about 12mm tube). It installed nicely and seals the hood to the back edge of the engine bay.
That did it! The air inside is nice and cool when I want it to be and smells like fresh air now.
Like the Torah says, "A good woman is above the price of rubies."
