I think the intermediate muffler or resonator is rotten inside on my 82 5 speed. There is a bit of a rattle when revving the engine.

The OE rear muffler is gone, replaced with a Borla and the cat is cut out.

About how much louder would the car be if I cut out the resonator and weld in a straight pipe? The car is pretty throaty now with the Borla and I don't know how much effect the rotten middle muffler has on the exhaust tone anyway.
