Sun screen visor mount Print it yourself
Once every few months my mount for the sun screen visor breaks at the bottom
so i made a new one that is solid... in "solidworks"
feel free to download it:
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:301786
if you do not have a 3d printer you can upload it to services like
i.materialise (€12,5)
ponoko
sculpteo (€17.35)
kraftwurx ($12.63/$15.75)
etc.

This item probably does not experience much mechanical stress, but makes me wonder ... is a printed replacement made using today's typical media as durable as the original? From what one reads, most printed items nowdays seem to be used to make molds to produce parts using conventional materials/methods.

I had several break before I learned that these are rather flexible material and so easy to overtighten. When you do the plastic is base is stressed and the open section tightens up - so pulling the visor out takes more force - these two together cause failure.
Make sure you use the correct screw and tighten just enough to snug it.
The ones on the car now have lasted for 11 years...
Before that I broke both of the original set and 2 more replacements within 6 months - just too tight.
