First place I would look and clean is the 14 Pin connector located on the Right side Fender inner fender just above the coil.
Disconnect your battery ground strap FIRST before messing around w/ it.

... and check your starter relay which feeds the solenoid. You can swap it for the horn relay ... if the horn works you know you're swapping it with a functional one. They're both 53B relays so are interchangeable.
Temp dependant and intermittent is not unusual for relays when they get old.

Did that already.
its a strange one. starting perfectly now as it's warm. Makes me think it's a connection problem the metal contracting when its cold and expanding when is warm.

Actually the configuration depends... manual cars are different from auto cars... tell us what you have?
Also what is your battery voltage at rest - engine off?
