Default Another Feather Bronze Intake!

For most stuff, I try to keep it as stock as possible; or at least make it easy to switch back to stock if needed. So when I saw Greg Brown say in a thread a couple years ago about Feather Bronze “The color, the sheen, and the texture of William's efforts are as close as I've ever seen to the stock finish”, I knew it’d be the color for me.

So this is Feather Bronze with a 50% gloss clear coat and the Porsche script highlighted with a touch of silver. Ben Genovese (Legend Garage) in Austin did the work and I couldn’t be happier. I asked Ben to do it because I wanted someone who supports our 928 community and more importantly someone who knows what they’re doing—i.e., what to mask, how to cure it, etc. Saving $50 in shipping to use a local guy and hope they got it right just didn’t make sense. No worries and excellent communication throughout the whole process--just excellent. He has the “glamour shots” on his website (http://legendgarage.com/portfolio/gt...eather-bronze/), but below are some I took this morning.

I had Ben P/C a metal oil filler; although in hindsight, I’m not sure it can be adapted to a GTS. And because getting the old coating off GTS intakes sucks, I bought used from 928 Intl during their 1/2-price December sale. So I’m not sure what to do with the old GTS intake… for collectability someday, is there any reason to keep it?

Time to get scrubbing… I like Stan’s (Mr. Merlin’s) idea of compressed air to dry it—thanks for that tip!

Silver contrast was a great call!

I really appreciate the folks that go with some subtle turns instead of the hey lookitme route.

If you're like me.....the process of installing all the bits that cover it up will be a little frustrating...can only see the edge of my S3 valve covers when everything is installed.

It's not "hey look at me" it's more like "i'm re-doing this and can get any combo of colors i want, so why not change it up".

Little too plain for me, but for those concours guys...

Keep your original intake. Casting R3 has subtle porting changes from earlier castings.
